Thumbs up Plenty of Bribie Flatties

I waded around the flats at Bribie this morning from about 4.30 am through until 10 am. I flicked plastics and picked up a total of twelve flathead. I kept five between 44cm and 58cm. The GULP 4" Minnow in Pearl Watermelon was must successful, fished on a 1/6th 2/0 jighead.

I got about three of the keepers from around the bridge lights on the island side, before dawn and two more wading by the drop off at White Patch after the tide started to run in.

I also got my plastic dragged under the ledge there by a sizeable cod. I got a look as he swam out a couple of times after loosening the drag but the lightoutfit meant I had no leverage and eventually he rubbed me off.

As usual there were plenty of pike and a few choppers, but I could not find any Bream.

Bulldogs- keep at it with the plastics - now is the time and it should only get better through to September. I got my first at Nudgee Beach just over three years ago and I remember it like yesterday. I had had months of trying and finally I got the right combination, which for me was - Gulp + 1/6th 1/0 Jigheads + light spin outfit + keep casting until you find them!
