Winter whiting in southern bay yet?
Gidday all,
I am hoping to get the boat on the water sometime in the next week, thinking of chasing winteries off Viccy Pt towards Pelican Banks if the winds co-operate. Anyone have any reports if they are about yet? Gunna try those plastic worms if I get out.
Thanks,
Mike

They're plentiful on the northern side of Peel. You just need to be really careful about the green zones. We've been getting our bag limit regularly (fish from 25-32 cms.) but have had the odd day of almost none as well. We figure if they're not the size of a legal summery then let them go. There are also some good size squid to be caught and the odd bar tailed flathead. We see a fair number of people who fish around pro pots as they believe these would definitely be outside the green zones. I prefer to refer to a map. Good fishin.

Thanks for the reply. My boat is only a 12 ft tinny, so I am a bit nervous of the more open waters north of Peel. If the winds drop, I might give the banks south of Peel a go anyway.
