    Hi Rob,

Noble make the 5.8, but to be fair it is quite big for a '580'!!

Absolutely fantastic offshore ride, with great stability at rest.

Might be worth looking into if its not on the big side??

thank borry and andkat and yes i am on to the surtees and its in the mix and have been in touch with the guys in nz who make it and have a rough price to land in brisbane and i think there is a dealer in SA also - and thanks ross but the noble 580 is i think just too big for me as i am 80% bay and estuary and maybe 20% off shore and 15 kms off shore or there abouts is about my limit so really i want a bay boat thats still ok off shore when it gets tough - i do like to get home
    cheers rob

    Re: stabicraft 529 v barcrusher 530 compare ??

Here is another option for you patrol, a Polycraft 5.3 Cuddy Cab. They ride well with with their deep V but sit on their sponsons when at rest & are stable as. They also draw about a foot of water when needed to float over sand bars etc.(saved me a lot of embarrassment ) Tough & you dont have to worry about washing the baot down just the motor & trailer.

    http://www.polycraft.com.au/530_cuddy_cabin.php

The trailers are set up to drive on & off so I can handle mine without any troubles by myself.

When I got mine about 3 years ago it was the biggest boat I could find for the $$$$

ok yea ill take one with the babe also - and yes i cant really see much differnec betwen the stabi craft and the kiwi craft in the specs either stinki stab still maybe i am missing something - now soemwhere i read about a water ballast hull like the barcrusher where it had a trap door arrangement so you could close it off to keep the water out when running slow or stopped in shallow areas and open it up if you wanted to - so any one know which make that is

    Re: stabicraft 529 v barcrusher 530 compare ??

 Ok for some positive Bar Crusher feedback.
I have the 530C, the previous model to the current (2008 I think it was)
The next model (if you buy new) had a minor change moving the live bait tank to the starboard side which would stop it from leaning to starboard as mine does without trim tabs. I would have also liked a walk thru cabin to access the anchorwell but as I have 3 kids I prefer the cabin. And I am sure the non- cabin models are too wet. Apart from that I have no negative feedback.

Its a dream to put in the water and to get it out. Whether you choose to winch- the 3 speed winch is a dream with the wobble rollers even the wifey can do it.
If you want to drive on (only do that with 2 people at the ramp) as I found it only needs a slight bump and it will roll off again, but it always self centres and if you choose to drive on then this is the way to go. There is another winch post you can buy that can auto lock but I understand you would have to get rid of the 3 speed winch. I would rather the winch as I often launch in shallow water.

The folding hardtop is a great idea and a cinch to put up, dont know why other boat builders dont do this ad it would never need replacing and little servicing (probably only the struts would need service every 20+ years). I have to drop the hardtop to get into the storage room but I have a purpose built stand (2 bits of wood) and to put it back up takes 30 seconds. I am also over 6'3 and I can easily stand up under it so there is plenty of room if you are tall. If you are shorter then to access the rocket launchers offshore could be difficult but you only need an esky to stand on to overcome this.

Its a boat you need to do nothing to, with most things as standard. Since I purchased it as standard I put a cd radio in, stressfree winch, and better electronics and modified the bait board to house knives and tackle. if you want a boat that when you buy it has everything done and that the boat does what is supposed to do then this is it.

I have gone over waves broken of obscene size offshore (not intentionally) that I am sure other boat owners would have thought to turn around and try and outrun them. I stayed on track and its landed as it should have, even with the 3+metre drop that you would expect off the back of a broken wave. Most boats couldnt have done this. Ok I admit its a little wetter than you would expect heading into chop offshore (they may look at this in future models as the spray needs deflecting off the chines), but pulling the hardtop down and putting in the side clears (this take too only 2 minutes or so) will stop all this. I remember last year following a mate at speed offshore thru chop, him in his fibreglass and me in my bc. I got wet but he was saturated. And I didnt have the clears on. If I did I would have been completely dry.

Boat is dependable as always has been, and is good, if not better than the marketing says. I was the first one to have one around here, now there are 3.

I had a pressed alloy before this, and it had a carpeted floor. The boat used to stink after fishing (as I keep boats in a purpose built room at home) but with the plate welded floor no hooks or bait can get into the sub floor (like the stabi) and with a bit of detergent when washing it out both my boys can watch tele in the same room as the boat without complaining of the stink. And I have never gotten a drop out of the bungs. I used to get at least 2lt in the pressed boat each trip offshore and I couldnt ever figure out where it was coming from.

So would I go bc again. Definitely. Some think it looks a bit tonka toy like but when it is parked out the front of home its suprising how many drivers stop and look at it. For the smallest boat in the range I am happy with the purchase, and I would not get anything bigger at all.

I bought mine from Ben at Stones Corner Marine at Brisbane after someone else I know bought one from him. Ben left a few weeks ago but I would never go anywhere else to get the boat or motor serviced.

This is what makes the Surtees different to the BC, we can shut our water in the hull by closing the flap, I can hold nearly 300 ltrs of water in my hull, makes a huge difference when runing home in a nasty chop, and I also can launch in shallow water by closing the flap before launching, and if beach retrieving I can close it on the way in and not fill the ballast trough up with sand.
Mate I am sure what ever boat you choose will be the right one for you, we all have our points of view, if we didn't it would be a boring world.

Hey am also lookin at the 560c for my new boat, it does operate well in the bay chop? Have been lookin around and doing my head in and so far it is ahead of the rest.. Does it handle well in offshore conditions as well?
What size motor does it have, i have heard that with the 115 it does not move it as well as it should , cheers pete..
