It seems Cania dam is not having anything go its way. With the dam rising to 38%, clearing up and the bass starting to come on things were looking good. However, last friday night the temperature dropped quite low causing the dam to roll, and the result is a massive fish kill. The majority of dead fish are in the main basin so hopefully those fish in the shallower areas have managed to survive.
not good news at all ,we are holding our breaths here in the bay hoping it doesnt get too cold in the river or lenthalls ,it would be disastrous to see another fish kill after it going so well this season
What exactly is causing these mass kills guys?? What do you mean by the term "caused the dam to roll"??
we get the odd kill down south here, but usually when the water level rises very quickly. Minus one here tonight (Dubbo) but we have never heard of the winter temps killing our fish.... Whats doing up there??
Exactly Luc. Its not the temperature change that was the problem in this case, it is what the change causes the water to do. It was very still to which didn't help oxygenate the water.
