    Nissan Navara

Where do I go for a chip upgrade (on the southside) for a nissan navara 2005 model diesel and what should I pay for it. Are they worth the money and do they make a difference?

you could try Bob Romano performance at morningside, or i use amm at deagon, you will pay around the 1000 dollar mark, in my opinion yes they are worth the money, i am saving for one for my Triton. cheers Lee

Do these chips have any negative affect on the engine long term?

    What are the benefits??

    G'day,

There was a thread on this a couple of weeks ago. You risk insurance, manufacturers liability for safety and compliance, your own liability for roadworthiness and you may increase emissions into the air that we breath.

However once you have covered all these off, we are right behind you.

    Re: Nissan Navara

If anything the chip will actually reduce to emissions from the car as they tend to Lean the mixture out to increase the performance. Manufacturers tend to run most of there engines on the rich side to protect the engine. Most chips are a plug and play type setup and without the chip in place there is no way for a manufacturer to refuse a warranty claim(if the vehicle is still covered by warranty). I had no problems in having my last car insured. Look at all the highly modified pocket rockets on the road and most of them are insured no problems at all. A performance chip will not affect the roadworthiness of a vehicle as it does not make the car unsafe. I work in the automotive industry and we issue roadworthy certs or safety certificates as they are known in QLD. and not once have we failed a roadworthy for a chip upgrade, a big exhaust that is noisy, wheels and tyres too big for the car, yep failed plenty of those. I am curious what qualifications do you have to make your judgements or are they just anecdotal
