Anything over 5/10kts of wind is uncomfortable. But if you are young and full of go 10/15 kts may be ok. Check the swell. If it is from the east or north east , be wary of the bars. If you go from Scarborough to the Cape and Deep Tempest, should be ok. Make sure you got enough fuel and the boat/motor is ship shape. It is a bit hard to walk on water.

If you have nfi at all chase a few container ships out from the mouth of the brissy cris crossing the wake, you will get a feel for how to handle your boat in some heavy waves which is what you will get on the bar or around the cape areas, id hate to see it blow 12 knots and read about you having a disaster on here

go out with someone with experience, the idea is to be able to handle the bad stuff which just happens along the way even on the good days

Even on the flatest, glass out days can provide some nasty pressure waves either end of Moreton. If you have no experience with these, then please try to get an experienced boatie (in these waters) to go with you. Even better still, use the crap weather as an excuse to do Bill Cortens bar crossing course....the best money you will ever invest in anything to do with your fishing/boating.
