    Iluka Break

Heading to Iluka for a week mid June, with the wife and daughter. Just wondering if a little local knowledge would be avaiable on starting points where to fish and what baits work best. Have a 4.5mtr centre console so won't be venchering outside but a couple of spots in the river would be appriciated. Cheers Basil2

Read Tye Porters report in the latest Bush n Beach mag he gives the good oil of where to fish in that area you might even get into a decent jewie around that time

Mate if you get a good day, you would still be able to get out in your boat.
Use the search button across the top of the page and you will find plenty of good info on here.
Also take a drive to Maclean while you are there and visit the guys at Big River Bait and Tackle.
They are always up for a chat about what is going on in the river.

    Cheers and thanks.

    Re: Iluka Break

When I go down there (which I do regularly) I leave the boat behind, get out the long rods and enjoy the land-based fishing for a change. I'll be down there again in a couple of weeks. Here are the places I usually fish

    Hi Basil,

You're not related to Basil Fawlty I hope?
Is your wife's name Cybill by any chance?

Mate, Freeeedom seems to have it covered from yabbie pumping points to everything else. Take note of his graphic and you can"t go too wrong.

You should find mullet very cheap down there atm.

Sorry I can't help you with going outside, but on a good day you could follow the wall on the Yamba side and then do a 90 degree hard starboard turn justafter the end of the breakwater walls.
