    Scarborough Overnighter

Hi all, anyone got any pointers on scarby reef, depth, locations, rigs and bait. Chasing squire sweetlip, mainly fish southern bay and have no idea where to anchor up and burley. My brother and I will be doing an overnighter before heading to Pearl channel before day break. Thanks in advance Paul please pm me if you like.

Im not sure when you're planning your overnighter but the weather at the moment will be keeping most punters away from Scarborough as it has no protection from the Southerlies that are blowing at the moment unlike the Southern bay that you are used to.

It is a shallow area and the fish spook easily, you should fish as light as possible with fresh baits and keep noise to a minimum, the first bang of an anchor against a tinny will see a exodus of quality fish from these shallow grounds. Not much real current to contend with mostly, so often unweighted baits will fish well. There are plenty of places to fish for the entire length of the peninsula if you can use a sounder you will find them, beware the green zone at the southern end. If all else fails then follow the sheep anchored around the main exposed reef at Castlereigh Point.

Be careful driving around this area at night with out local knowleage as if your boat ends up on top of the reef itself you won't be the first or the last for that matter...

Thanks Kev, I will keep an eye on forecast 15 to 20 kts, currently 5kts. If weather stays like that might just go straight to pearl.
