hi fellas
looking for a spot handy to the coast where you can camp right in the inlet and have a line set while your cooking up a feed
i used to camp on the murray river where you can pull up anywhere along it, not have a asigned tiny camp spot to stay in and no-one on your lap any tips

i am based at Helensvale but am looking for some good spots with in two hours

Mate for land based camping I would look at Noosa or Maroochydore on the River (from memory there are camp/caravan sites that might suite - mouth or Maroochy and on the Noosa back in a little way). You could always go the Tweed River like the River Retreat Caravan Park. If you didnt mind the barge fare you could go with Amity Point camp grounds on North Straddie and fish the biggest inlet around (the South Passage bar leading into the Rainbow Channel).

Open fires make it hard these days as most places that are not private property are national or state parks.
Whilst not an inlet, Bribie Island has some decent camping on the surf beach and a few good camp sites in the passage.
Moreton island is outstanding camping for off peak periods.
Inskip point offpeak is ok as well
Further north is out of your two hour boundary but there are some good locations to be had.

Do u have a boat Skull? If so then north Currigee is great a place to camp. http://www.caravancampingnetwork.com...mpgrounds.html. Its located straight across from paradise point on south straddie and is situated in a little cove just of the broadwater which has camping sites on the river with fire places, toilets and showers. The cost is $25 per tent per night + $5 per child over 5years old. :wink:

if you contact vmr at jacobs well they used to have a spot on south stradie near a place that was tipplers if they still have it im sure for a small donation you may be able to camp there the bedrooms was another spot near there i dont know if you can still camp there but a phone call will find out and you can fish the jumpinpin and launch your boat at the coomera river.

there's a few spots on the west side of bribie (mission pt, lime pocket) where you can have fires and you're right beside the water.

Hey mate,

Thanks for that info and the link. I was wondering about spots along South Straddie. I work overseas a lot but when I'm in Oz I'm based at Runaway Bay. Knowing some places on Sth Strad will be very handy, especially kid friendly ones.

Crusoe Island down at Jumpin Pin.
Not National park so no fees..
I don't know if there are fire rules as such but I always make one, just keep it sensible and under control. Its under the control of Redlands Council, they all knock off work at 5 (or before) and don't have boats anyway.
Your 14 ft flat tinny will get there OK.

I was camping on South Straddie on the weekend. A first for me. We were right up near the top - some ok spots along there. Ranger came around for fees (not sure how much). Can fish straight from your camp chair if you want.
We launched at Rudy Maas - small fee to park there overnight and bit better security than a public ramp.

When camping at currigiee, where is the most secure place to park ur car for a few days.
