Hi all,
Anyone willing to share their favourite dead bait and rigging method for big spainairds. Am looking at getting the boat out the bar at Noosa and having a troll.
Any help is appreciated, cheers

I like Tailor. I can get them swimming quite well. I keep trying Bonito and Jellybean Mac Tuna but I'm blowed if I can get them swimming well.
Wolf Herring are a great bait but hard to come by

Big slimes!!
Alcohol doesn't agree with me, but i sure do enjoy the argument!!!
gar for me, good hookup rate and easy to rig
salting fish baits for a few days toughens it up some.
Bonito (750 gram models) with chin bibs the Citer Lures red and white ones. flex them up an a zip tie to keep in place and hang on
I have had no luck at all on tailor this year live or dead and had trouble getting the dead baits to swim good???
in saying that I have not got one over 10kg this year , every big hit I get it all goes pear shaped real quick
cheers Murf
I've now taken to individually vacuum freezing some big slimies i got earlier this year and they have been great, it alot of effort but worth it !

I recon whatever bait is around in numbers at the moment. Last couple trips last week (pics attached) all saw the tailor not sitting in the water long before a spanish took it as they are in plague proportions off the Gold Coast lately.
If there is a dead bait to rig for the blues....nothing gets me hard like putting a long tom in the water:winkfloat line) . Finding them is another story.
Cheers,
Jay

A boat i have been getting out on uses slimies on a home made chin rig of sorts (gangs with sheet lead wrapped on it ) with a small pink skirt running down onto the first hook. Works well. We also used the pink skirt on the slow trolled livies and it got hit first 75% of the time over the livies without the pink skirt.
We used to use pike. They worked very well and swam like a dream.
Pike are a gun bait for everything.
Spaniards love em..........slimies,Bonito and tailor have caught me fish also.

How big are the pike you use, and do you rig them like a gar.
