That is Trik absolutely crazy bloke (in a nice way??) . We got tegether with a few boats in Vic and there were 2 Yalta 615's there Trik's and one with a big Yammy on the back. I rated these boats the most underated boats I had ever been in.

Fortunatelty I went out in the other Yalta as Trik scares the crap out of me and I had no intention getting in his boat.

Any boat that survives 5 years of Trik would survive 50 years of normal usage.

lol mad bugger!!!! you would want a racing harness and at least a six pack before you got in:huh: Yalta is awesome nearly put deposit on seafarer which are awesome boat but i couldnt pick the difference on the water . Big savings over the seafarer:smiley: i was able to put what i wanted into the yalta george customised a few things bigger live bait wells etc , only thing is the wait on the boats as he is only a small boat builder in Gympie but builds a very strong boat i am stoked with mine it loves the ruff stuff  very underated boat lets hope he keeps the prices down, they are a real fishing boat minus the frllly bits i found that better as i added what i needed and not payed for things i didnt.

looking at a new 6m boat for the missus & I for moreton bay .

Key things we are looking at:
    • would want the ability to go offshore / deal with Moreton swells without capsizing (6m seems to be the minimum size - some protection against lack of skill).
    • don't want the engine to be underpowered for the boat.
    • we need a nice little cabin with 2 berths (tournement 2000 very nice). but not likely to have more than 4 people on boat at any time.
    • Don't want to spend more than mid $60's drive away.
    • fibreglass
    • needs to be under 2 tonnes (we have a 2.8L Jeep cherokee KJ CRD auto diesel, towing capacity 2.8 tonnes but wouldn't try anywhere near that.)
    • concious of resale value and general bang for buck. as with any purchase consideration, want to make sure i'm getting my monies worth for the deal as a whole (i.e. initial purchase, use & enjoyment and resale)
    • probably going to want new as second hand values don't offer enough discount imo.
Initial research has the boats in order of preference:

    1) - Haines traveller TC200. seems good value. ~$60k. better name/ resale value than Tournement?

    2) - tournement bluewater 2000. ~$65k Good bang for buck. ticks all the boxes. Great offshore, engine, cabin and looks. Seems to have a bad reputation however... don't want buy something cheap & nasty?

3.) Haines Hunter 585R. $65k. Just under 6m - so maybe a touch small. great name. sluggish engine on stock boat 135HP 4 stroke? [575 profish looks good but maybe little to small for offshore]

4.) Baysport 620. ~62k. 150 HP evinrude. seems to handle choppy well per trailerboat review (march 2010). not so nice cabin - but otherwise looks good. not sure about the name?

    5) - Cruise Craft explorer 575. ~$60k. Under 6m - not as many specs as those above, won't handle choppy / offshore as well? but very good name & finish. decent engine on the stock boat.

6.) Yalta craft odessa 6.5m. seems great value for money at ~ $45k but not as good for wife type things (comfort, cabin etc) . Underpowered engine on stock boat...but for the price maybe upgrade to bigger motor Also maybe also a little cheap in construction?

7.) Whitley cruiser 2180. 5.75m. only 135 hp engines and qouted ~ $70k. bit pricey. However beautiful boat, great name.

would be interested to hear your thoughts (and if you would recommend any others).

    cheers
    G'day,

You are in the market for a 4 to 5 year old boat to do what you want at under $60K.

You say you want to go out into Moreton without capsizing but also go outside. Last Sunday outside was pretty rough and inside was a mill pond.

Be very concerned about going outside and not being able to handle a sea. It will kill you faster than being inside and not being able to handle it.

I think you should do a lot more research about what you need for safe boating.

    Regards,

    White Pointer
