    evinrude 25 hp 1973

    hi everyone
I have recently bought a 4metre quintrex with 25hp motor
Motor runs fine and has 135 comp on each cylinder
Problem Motor is angled up when travelling with a block of wood as the normal bits are missing. Does anybody out there have or know where I can aquire a similar not going motor for these bits. Would also like to tidy up cowling and need to get evinrude 25 decals bit hard on a 73 model Any ideas?
Picked up 3 good muddies, 2 kilos of prawns and a nice flatty on tinny creek friday all consumed so might head out again mon/tues AAHH RETIREMENT

Honestly it's not worth the hassle of trying to do it up. So long as it's in good working order, just use it. Good work on the catch. I bet you kept a wary eye on your pots up there to return with anything.

Hi Pete, Try these people: http://www.mandwmarine.com.au
Them old Evinrude's are definitely worth spending a few bob on, great old outboards and it's only 35 years old so still young for a Rude. Or you could just buy a new 4 stroke and spend all your money on servicing and they make your boat easy to board because it's bum sits so low in the water and they look really cool going up the creek with the boats nose pointing so high in the air and you'll never get scared again because it probably won't plane and you can just put around and feel safe, and don't forget every one with a 2 stroke will envy you.

    Cheers and good luck.

Is that the one with the rounder cowl with 2 little pods running across the top for the flywheel to sit in or squarer one??
Any sign guy should be able to do the stickers and as for the parts...well the wreckers would be first port of call. Is it just the trim pin gone or are other bits missing?
Here's a parts diagram of the tilt mechanism
    http://www.crowleymarine.com/johnson...arts/29975.cfm
    Is your's electric start??
If it's the one I'm thinking off there are only 2 down points.
The first is the coils. They always crack in the insulation and stop. the second is the ignition points and condensor that they have. Not electronic back then.

Here's what the older ones looked like

    And the newer one

HAVE JUST BOUGHT A 40LB THRUST ELECTRIC MOTOR FOR PRAWNING BAIT FISHING AND GENERAL BACKUP
THANKS FINGA THE INFO YOU GAVE IS BRILLIANT WILL TRY THE WRECKERS FOR THE PARTS I NEED

SORRY ABOUT THE LATE REPLY BUT THE OLD TICKER HAS BEEN GIVING ME A BIT OF GYPE AT 52 I SOMETIMES FEEL LIKE 72 BUT HEY I'M GOING FISHING TOMORROW YEEHAA.

    Re: evinrude 25 hp 1973

Which bits were you missing matey??

My dad has both of the models sitting in his shed.
They're both like new. The newer one is electric start and that's the only reason he has it on the boat as the old Sportsman is a beauty.
Another thing to look out for on them is the fuel pump. The diaphragms are getting old at this stage of their life.

Wrong stickers Trilogy. They're for later models.

If you get stuck with the stickers give me a cooee.
I might be able to make some up out of some AI files I have.

    Re: evinrude 25 hp 1973

    Hi Finga
Having a good look at the parts diagram I can't see anything missing???
Maybe I'm wrong and you can't tilt the motor into a permanent position when travelling on the trailer.
The motor is set up for forward steer without the cables etc
Just need a comfy seat and am ready to go.
A few prawns and baitfish this morning and 2 nice bucks
    Thanks for the help

    Hi muddypete

Go for it and give the ol donk a good makeover, nothing like seeing old donks that have had the treatment to spruce em up again.

I am an old merc fan and often visit a website in the states called oldmercs.com and some of the restoration jobs are simply out of this world, i am sure if you done some googling you would find something relating to what you have and some impressive pics.
