No good Gav. We spent most of Sunday up there and threw everything we could at them for zero interest. It was cloudy all day and even tried to rain a few times, but at least the wind stayed away.
We did see one big barra though. We were casting along one of the banks near the main basin, there were a few baitfish flicking around out from the bank, maybe 15 - 20 M from the boat. We both were looking out that way when this big barra smashed a baitfish on the surface with most of his back coming out of the water! We cast lots of lures then through the baitfish flicks, but still to no avail.
I think I saw you up there Dave, were you in a flats type glass boat (scout??) with raised platform?.
I ended up with a 74cm in the baot and droped two others. The boated one on a bills fizzer and the two dropped on a reidy's j walker. Boated and dropped came off weed edge in pretty shallow water about 5 feet.
I did notice that there was more bait movement than has been there for a long time.
Yeah Birko, that was us. We spent most of our time casting at the weed edges, even used some fizzers. Those Bills Bugs fizzers are my favourites, not too noisy like the blooping types, but enough that the barra seem to love them. But no joy this time.
Did you get them right up in the gullys or just any of the edges? There was weed along nearly every bank we fished.
For sure, come on over if you see me. I'm always a bit hesitant to approach other boats for fear of being accused of scaring fish/stealing fishing spots etc, you know how some fishos can be, but I would rather a quick chat and a possible heads up on biting fish, so come say g'day for sure.
Just gone back yesterday, so another 8 days till my six off. So, from the 6th to the 11th, not sure what I've got on though, I'll have to check the calendar.
