    help mounting a downrigger

    new downrigger is due to arrive on monday from the US i went with a cannon lake troll im lost as to ideas on mounting it i didnt wanna get the optional clamp mount as i thought it wasnt worth the price $100US shipped and it looks flimsy so i am going to some how mount the downrigger to my tinny i need some ideas its a allycraft 3.75m tinny hope someone can come up with an idea
    i have thought about mounting the downrigger to the rear triangle pieces that are supporting the transom to sides (corners) but this is only 2-3mm thick will it work? the weight i plan on using will be 8lb

    Gazza,
    I had one mounted in the very same place around 20 years ago.

    I had a thicker aluminium plate cut the size of the downrigger base and put it underneath for added strength.

    Ran a 10lb bomb for a number of years without any problems.
