Gday mitch myself and the family drove around all day and had no prob in our 99 Rodeo duelcab actually didn't have to let the tyres down untill we got to Indian head. Got back waiting for the ferry and about 6 hire troopies there with women and blokes who had never driven 4wds and they had no probs either.

we just got back yesterday from 5 nights up there. Didn't get up to Indian Head, but we did the Lake Allom, Eurong - Central Station - Kingfisher and Kingfisher - Birrabean - Dilli Village track and they are all easy at the moment. Plenty of bumps, but no soft stuff.

Any particular reason you wanted to do moon-coongul? The rest of the trip is a non event, but those few kays can get dicey after wind with a bit of north or west, not to mention crossing coongul (I'm assuming you've seen the Wooralie Rd on the map and figure it's a good route?). It is a good route, just needs some prep and planning.

Coongul needs to be hit right on the low tide, and even then I'd recommend a water blind for the rodeo.

There is an inland rd from moon over to the wooralie rd too.

Researching maps at the moment. Havn't looked but believe there is an inland route to get to the coongul campgrounds? Reason is it hold some value for me, have hiked on foot from the moon point barge zone to coongul creek camp area straight up the beach (and through the creek with bags above my head) many times and its a beaut spot.

As i said, still reasearching at the moment, but plan on doing it oneday soon.
