starlo stix tournament and pflueger on northside

    Hi lads/ girls,

I'm looking for a shop that stocks SS tournaments and pflueger Trions tournaments in the same shop.

Am I pushing poo up hill?

I would even be happy to find someone who stock either.

    My local doesnt stock them.

I can get them on line but i would like to buy local and see them before my purchase.

Oh and the shop needs to be on the northside.

    thanks

Try Jones's Tackle. I know they stock the SS Tournaments. On the Southside Tackle Warehouse has both brands but limited ranges

    Which model ?

I just recently bought a 721 Maxspin (4-7kg) - for a mates rod:rolleyes: Now I bought this for barra spin - landed a couple on it & its ok

It is a shame that they downgraded the range with cheaper guides & winch fittings - but the blank is still very nice (always the strong point)
On previous models - Gen 1 .... it was head & shoulders ahead of any rod under $250 ..... but the gap as narrowed IMO - but its still a bit better than a Trion IMO

I'm sorry I'm looking at the light spin SST and the 2-5kg trion tournament

I have a series 1 SS Tournament Maxspin and it is probably my favourite rod. I have also a series 2 lightspin. The guides are still good and it certainly does the job. The lightspin is quite light in the tip (more like most 1-3 kg rods) but has a lot of reserve power. I have pulled Snapper to 80cm on mine.
I think you will find the blank quality of the SS to be the determining feature. They are as good as many rods worth more than twice as much

Can't say I've used a Trion Tournament but I own two Pflueger Asaros ($200~ rods) and I'm extremely happy with them. The 2-4kg Asaro is a much nicer rod than the TD Sol that it's replaced.

Depends on 'HOW' Northside you are. The mob at Caboolture (Henzel Rd) used to stock both, I got my Starlo Stik there and I looked at the pfleuger at the same time.

    They are my local.

But unfortunately they dont stock pflueger any more and they only have the blue starlo stick not the tournament.

They are been very good to me but they said it would be too expensive to order one rod in and they could not compete with someone who has them in stock.

went into my local ( allround angler) yesterday to order some more jighead hooks and spoke to the guy i normally deal with.

Looks like I'm going to be a owner of a new SST light spin once the order comes in. I just have to wait for them to do the next order from shimano to help with the freight costs.

All up I'm getting what i want from who i want at great price.

Its amazing on what you can come up with when you speak to the right person.

Good to hear Mate, they are pretty good to deal with are'nt they, I drive over there to get any gear i need. I prefer to support them than the bigger stores down the road.
    Cheers, Grant
