Alittle Bohle fun
After been laid up with the flu for a week I decided i'd head out to the Bohle (in behind ingham rd) this morning to have a flick around with my spin stick and took my new 7wt with me incase. After an hour fishing the snags and rocky patchs with lures and catching afew rat barra and some tarpon i decided to try out some flies on a section of the river where it shallows and narrows along the side of a big sand bar. I've always got lots of bit mullet and herring there with the cast net and thought it might be a nice easy spot to try and get my casting better. Anyway i tried tiny little shrimp flies in pink and then in a dark green and managed one little (30cm) giant herring on the green one. Then changed over to alittle Bread fly on which i got 4 mullet to about 25cm which where good fun!
all in all it was a good morning, my casting is still crap with me mainly using roll casts to set my fly out and then letting the running water take it down steam to the fish. If anyone is heading out and has sometime to give me some pointers it would be greatly appreciated.
