Boondooma Dam

Hello all,

We often travel to a Manar Park which is a large 4wd and motorbike park, it backs on to the Boyne River about 5klms downstream from the Boondooma Dam wall.

Whilst we love going there a few of days at a time is about all the body can take.

We have often thought how great it would be to be able to spend a day or 2 at the dam as well but from the park on Manar Road, the Proston side of the lake is a long way around.

Having never been to the dam we wonder if there are camping areas on the dam other than those on the Picton side.

Any idea anyone?

Many moons ago we were able to camp at the waters edge a few hundred meters from the boat ramp. There's nothing like waking up in the morning and having a ski before brekky.

Do you mean Proston side?
We go often and I am not aware of anywhere else to camp apart from the lakeside unpowered sites or the powered sites, or the original camp area up on the top of the hill near the lookout. I think the rest is private property.

I was hoping there would be camp friendly access on the other side than Proston.



Wags, I know exactly what you mean, a bit like that last ski of the day when the sun is going down and everyone else is off the water preparing dinner, washing kids, starting camp fires etc.
