    Poppering/spinning rod

i'm after a rod to use poppering off the rocks for kings, throwing big chromies for whatever is hungry and the odd time I travel north enough to tangle with GT's etc.

i'm reading about 7' and 8'3" monster mesh, 8 'GT special and 7' live fibre.

not sure what to do? the 8 footers are heavy rods and i'm not sure whether they are suited to long hours of casting. your thoughts?

i'd be running a Daiwa 6500 size reel, which in itself is a heavy reel for continuos casting.

Although the price is right, the live fibre is 1 piece, which makes it hard to travel with on planes.

    Have a chat with Deepfried!

He spends way too much money on tackle and will have an answer for you!

Throw in the T-curve 15-24 kilo bluewater spin into to the mix. It's a bit lighter and cheaper than the GT special so may work for you.
Apart from that they are all good rods, depends on what size line you'll be running and what type of fishing you'll be doing most of the time. No need to get the big guns if you fish a little less than that most of the time.

    Cheers, Mark.
