my navman sounder is r.s. apparently navman are no more so looking for decent middle range sounder/fishfinder around $400 speaking of the fishfinder tag i had the navman 5 yrs and dont reckon i ever distinguished a fish , caught plenty too ! all from home waters .St. Leonards Port Phillip Bay. Your thoughts ?
Eagle Fishmark 320 or 480 are great B&W units if budget is limited. They are similar/same as older Lowrance models, but work equally as well.
And dont be suprised if you never see those famous fish arches, especially if you only fish relatively shallow water. I have only seen probably 4 or 5 true arches in the last few years on the sounder... but that doesn't mean the fish are not there... With some knowledge and practice you can determine that a few grouped dots on the screen are bream, whether the ground beneath you has weeds or not and many other useful things... Get Rick Huckstepp's books on using Sounders... Best investment ever
