Two trips - Bastard Again and Cracking a Pattern

Couple of trips to hunt for some more Barra.

First one was a few weeks back and Mark (TryMyLuck) came along. Whole session was really quiet but as per normal of late, Mark does me again by getting smashed just as we we about to call it a night. The hit was huge and the barra actually hit his lure on the jump and landed some distance from where it took off. Fight was vigorous and Mark did a top job to land it on light string and a little Bubble Pop65. I had one miss hit and that was it Once again, the bastard did me

Early this week, I decided that the best way for me to get the upperhand was to not invite him. Nah, I was actually on my way home, so dropped in for a quick flick. Weather was not ideal with blustery and wet conditions. First hour, not a hit, or even evidence of the quarry. As dark settled in the wind dropped a bit but the rain picked up. I changed up my retrieve and almost instantly I was at the start of the hottest bight I have ever had on barra. Seven barra in a bit over an hour on the same lure, using the same technique. All hits were at a similar point of the retrieve and all surface.. I even caught a fish that still had one of my lures attached as jewellery from a couple of weeks prior and also caught the same fish twice in an hour (no.1 & 6). With only 6lb (yes I have gone heavier) main and 16lb leader, the rig was taking a flogging, so the lure was definately in need of a retie each fish. Not wanting to waste time tying on a new leader, I must admit that it was getting pretty small by fish no. 7. Left them bighting (including the mossies) as I had to get home to tuck the girls in and I had had my fun. It was awesome to crack a code for the night and reap the rewards. I am sure it will be different next time, but that is what keeps us trying and learning.

Well I couldn't take anymore floggings. Don't be upsetting 'The MAYOR' with your smart bum comments - you are a poo mixer.

Thanks Poiter, they have really darked up into that bronze colour after all this rain. We have noticed it too in another spot north that we (well Mark actually) have been getting them. Really pretty looking fish.

Thanks for the kind words all.
