Talking mondy beginners 16-19th april (photos added)

    hi all,
straight to it! myself and 3 mates hit mondy for 3 night (fri-mon) 3 of us have been once before this trip,a little over a year ago with the end result being 1 hit for myself and a 97 barra land'd. to say the dam has changed since then is an under statement!

fri we hit the dam about 4:30pm for a quick fish but more to have a look around than anything.
Sat we hit the water early went right up to the top of the dam arounfd F as we'd been given the good oil on a few fish being caught there. fished wind blown points with plenty of bait that looked fishy for 0 result for both boats. back a ramp for lunch and a break. back on the water at sat afternoon about 2:30pm and the rain decided to belt down on us for a good hour so freezing cold and turning blue myself and my mate(the first timer) called it quits and went back to camp to dry up and have a few cold 1's and discus a plan for sunday. boat 2 returns about 5pm with a photo of a 96cm girl caught from a shollow point in the main basin during the heavy down poor. caught on a heavily modified xrap HB. success and first barra land'd for my mate on his 2nd trip to the dam!

sunday morn back on the water just before first light with both boats fishing the point in the main basin for a few hours for 0 result again. the call was made from my boat to head into bird bay to locate some new points to fish while boat 2 stayed on the point in the main basin. had a follow to the boat on my slick rig from a 60ish cm fish before turning away as i ran out of retrieve. the only excitment for the morning session. back in for lunch. sun afternoon left the ramp at 2pm. both boats planned an attack on a point near white rock that we'd saved in the gps earlier with plans to fish. both boats tied off to trees within 50m of each other. 1 hour later boat 2 hooks up to a big girl on the xrap again the battle begins an a nice 102cm is landed within 5mins! hour and a half later i hook up on the xrap to a very big girl managed to turn her away from 3 or 4 lunges for a tree line to the left only to have her bury herself under submerged structure near the boat and wear through my leader in the process . fished untill 7pm for nomore barra.

monday we decided to head to the same point for a quick 2hour fish. again both boats tied up to the same trees at 5am. 6am boat 2 hooks up again on the xrap running straight at my mate before jumping and throwing the lure at him. not 15mins later my mate is on again and he manages to get this girl to the boat and from a 96cm to a 102cm he ups his pb again to 103cm! turned to point to foam from then on till 7:30am for 1 big hit but missed hookup and another braid snap on the strike for me!

in all more than happy with the way the weekend went. i would have been happy with 1 fish between the 4 of us considering the massive change and little knowledge of the new dam. photo is of my mates 102cm. a little dodgy as i was 50m away. will add alot better pics when i get them from my mate!

a bit long winded but cheers fro reading

Good one Jayvee ...... always good to catch fish in tough conditions - so well done!

So do you like the new dam

    Chris
Give a man a fish & he will eat for a day !
    Teach him how to fish
& he will sit in a boat - & drink beer all day!

Great stuff Jayvee. The lake and barra fishing can be very, very addictive. So we'll be seeing you at the Committee Meeting in June I take it from the above posts. Look forward to catching up mate.
