maroon?? anyone??

Hi all, has anyone fished maroon recently? wanted to know how it was fishing.

Went this weekend. Very hard work. 5 bass between 4 of us.

Dam is full of weed, so anything sinking gets snagged and you lose tackle.

Surface is mostly fine but you have an hour window at the start of daylight and then an hour as the sun goes down. Any time outside that and you're just having casting practice!

Still was a good weekend though!

Hi Smoked,
I was out there yesterday (Tuesday) and I only managed to score 1 bass & 1 Spanglie (on lures).
I have to go a long way back in my diaries to find a day on Maroon as dismal (May 2004).
Since my last visit in Feb the water level has gone up again and it must be cracking close to 100%.
The weed has grown immensely and there is plenty of places to hide.
Usually you can find fish laying down the sides of the weed but there was very little evidence of that yesterday.

I did find fish out wide in 30 to 40 ft of water along the back edge just before I left and could not get them to eat.
I did not have my fly gear with me but I would say that may well have been the answer.
