Thread: Trim tabs on Cruise Craft Outsider 575?

Re: Trim tabs on Cruise Craft Outsider 575?

I was happy with the setup of my boat from Wynnum Marine when I bought it from them. So I would definitely place them in the "reputable" category.
Do you mind telling me what the cost was Reel Blue? ..and how long ago was that done.
You can pm it to me if you would rather do that.
Thanks for the input. This is another example of how as fellow boaties we can share our experiences good and bad and help each other avoid any possible pitfalls.
    Thanks again,
    Cheers,
    Paul.

I say again - if the QL's are considered, talk to Kitty Kat, he is a member on this site.

Re: Trim tabs on Cruise Craft Outsider 575?

You comments were noted the first time, Tim.
I'm still in the "finding information" stage at the moment.
I like the look of the QLs and they would fit behind the ladder really well. However I'm not sure that the budget will stretch as far as what the QLs will need it to ...well maybe more I am wondering if that extra cost is justified.
I'm interested in exploring Wynnum Marine's way of installing a spacer bar over the tab to allow the ladder to be used. I'd like to have a look at that and compare the different options.
I'm leaving my options open at this stage and looking for comments from as many who wish to give them.
Considering that just yesterday I was of the opinion that I would not be able to use the ladder if I had trim tabs my knowledge has been already expanded by a huge degree in this area.

If I had known of the possibilities I would have had them fitted a long time before this.
    Cheers,
    Paul.

Bill Corten has a ladder spacer on his boat for his tabs..it appears to work well.

Im with Tim on this one, I spent a long time researching trim tabs before I settled on the QL, and as Tim has mentioned they are a pain to install if your boat is foam filled, but once there on man what a difference it makes to your ride. I highly recommend them they are overpriced but well worth the extra coin.

I have a Explorer 575 and fitted Bennett Tabs myself. A recent visit to Cruise Craft factory, Kevin sold me the bracket which goes under the ladder.... Fitted up all works great. Dave

Thought I had posted a reply but...so here goes again????

I fitted Bennett Tabs to my 575 Cruise Craft explorer, and didn't have any hassels. On a visit to Cruise Craft factory Kevin showed me a bracket which they manufacture to go under the ladder. Purchased the bracket and now fitted. All works great.

I second Grand Marlin as a professional fellow for this type of installation. He can also be mobile. Genuine chap also

Thanks for the comments, Dave. I cant see on your profile where you are located but if you are in the Ipswich /Greater Brisbane area I would really like (at sometime) to have a look at your set-up and have a talk about how you went fitting your trim tabs.

Wow, I'm not having much success, this is the third time I've tried to reply....Here goes again.

I fitted Bennett trim tabs to my 575 Cruisecraft Explorer quite successfully by just following the instructions supplied. On a recent visit to the Cruise Craft factory, Kevin showed me a bracket they make that fits under the ladder and holds it off the trim Tabs. Purchased the bracket and fitted. Looks good, strong and does the job.Dave

Duh! Didn't realise there was another page - sorry everyone.
Paul I'm located at Caloundra and you're welcome. I will take some pictures and send to you if you like? My boat is Nov.2008 bought new off Wynum marine.
A bit information that I didn't have (Came from Justin @ CruiseCraft Factory) was that their boats like to run with their heads high. So last few trips offshore I have been trimming higher and confess the boat does run better - so now using the trim tabs more for leveling and not so much for getting the bow down. I have a 150HP Yamaha four stroke on the back so a bit tail heavy... Dave

Got any photos of that bracket?
    Dunno about that heads-high idea?
Sounds like a good way to slam down if you ask me.

Re: Trim tabs on Cruise Craft Outsider 575?

The brother just fitted QL tabs to his victory and we just spent a week on hols using it every day and wow what a difference they make. When you read the posts researching tabs people say after having them they wouldn't have a boat without them, everything they say is true. Very impressed with the QL's for performance and size

Re: Trim tabs on Cruise Craft Outsider 575?

I have had Bennetts on a 30' boat and QL's on a 18 1/2 ' boat..QL's all the way on that size boat...spend the extra money and get them..you won't regret it.

BUT..be warned..only one tap on the control of the QL's at a time..scared the crap out of me the first time I used them.

Re: Trim tabs on Cruise Craft Outsider 575?

I've just completed a trimm tab install on my Victory and didn't want to go through the boarding platform. I'm not sure of the problem you are facing with the CC but the story of mine is on the following link including pictures.

Also on the one button at a time advice on QLs I asked around about this and apparently the only concern I could find people had with QL's was that as the plates move down one section at a time you can find it hard to get the exact trim you are looking for. My boat is just as sensitive to tab correction as any other and the analogue/smooth function of the hyudraulic bennetts certainly means fine adjustments are not a problem.
In saying that Wayne_Red's brother loves his QL's they look good and are very tidy on the boat and he hasn't reported a problem of oversensitivity. Happy boating with the tabs whatever you choose you will be wrapped.
