Hi all live very close to area noticed last saturday morning the boats starting to mass in area thought it was wrong then reliezed green zones are for honest people 95% of us the rest do as they please lets face it no policing no staff big area wonder how long it would go on for if rec fishes didnt didnt inform also wonder how many they actually got for it and will they pay fines ?????? like most i,m pretty much over all the crap involved these days
Back to original story about hiding and taking pics ; what about the people fishing in kayaks and small tinnies with less than 6 hp that have no rego ; they get off scot free? It is hard if you are pushing the limits with these little green zones every where and with no GPS. I also reckon that they should be identified moor clearly with something like a large colorful beacon on every corner of every zone, then there would be no confusion.

No, that doesn't protect the fish, it just makes them pay heavily for it - if they pay the fine that is.
If fisheries actually drove up in a boat they'd scatter and leave the fish in the water, that would protect them.
So maybe you can't fine the ones that get away but is that the purpose of a Green Zone? To collect fines?
A combination of covert fining and a physical presence would probably work.
I reckon they knew exactly what they were doing, they went there to fish because they knew their would be stock there and they also knew that we decent anglers who care about fishing resources and respect the law wouldn't be there to compete with them.
I think the idea about corner posts has some merit. If not I'm gonna have to buy a GPS sounder. Because as we know in 4 years the ALP will say-
"The fish stocks have shown further decline. therefore we are increasing the amount of green zones for QLD"
and we will bitch about it, and yet we'll vote them back in again and again.
About bloody time some people got stung breaking laws.
I am not racist but I am sick of seeing people of ethnic background (thats what they are) consistantly say stuff ya rules I 'll take what I want, just scroll thru previous posts about sand pumping jetty for example and I supposedly cannot tell it as it is without being labled a racist!
Yes every race does it but the raincoats in particular are pretty dumb because they hit an area onmass that looks like a well planned and coordinated invasion sometimes on the water and that is why people notice it. They are not stupid or ignorant they damn well know what they doing and just dont give a sh*t............
I know of 4 calls to EPA last week from Carbrook ramp about cars turning up and boots being loaded with prawns and boats heading back out only to return later and do it again.
that green zone is the reason I haven't gone there this year- just to dangersous when your catching and not keeping your bearings

Awshucks , I have a GPS and dont fish in green zones, but plenty of people dont. I fish a lot at pin bar around Swan bay "green zone" and find it nice that theirs markers both sides so I can line them up and keep just outside. Still people do fish inside but signs are there and they know. If you dont think we need signs, lets pull all no parking signs down in Brisbane streets, put out a map of where we are not aloud to park and fine people $500.00 first time caught; double there after; and listen to people scream. Its just common sense ; not that sense is very common any more.
You seem to be bagging rather then making constructive comment. there is always 5% of the population that break the law. If we didn't have law breakers, there wouldn't be a need for cops or fisheries.
As much as i don't agree on green zones. You break the law you pay the crime.
As for prawning , most people would follow the crowd. I heard of a dick, john and harry down the pub who caught their bucket limit yesterday, so everyone goes there. In the heat of the moment you can easily stray into the green zones. Not that you should. The stupuid thingy is you can fish or cast within 500 meters from the high tide mark at shorncliff.
As for the people who think you can claim innocent by saying i don't know the rules. Welll ur dreaming!!! try saying that to a copper who has just caught you speeding.
As for lots of boats + crowd. If you say on Ausfish there are prawns here, Where else do you think South East Queensland will go??.
And for people who don't know the rules, There is no size limit for herring and they make great snapper bait. Don't assume a fish is undersize if you don't have a ruler to measure unless it's obvious.
You have obviously never gone to the southport seaway on every given day or night to notice the demographic of who is constantly there fishing and keeping everything they catch. Talk to some of the resident's of port stephen's in N.S.W that had buses full of a certain race rape and pillage the pippies and any other living marine organisim they could find!.
Then give me the 5% PC garbage.
