    land based pottsville area

    g day again,as im heading to watch number one son play afl in pottsville this weekend.i was wondering is there any good local landbased spots to fish in this area.as a toowoombaite this area is all new.but im keen,im still chasing my first legal flatty if anyone knows a good spot,i also am keen to try soft plastics.also any recomendations on a camping spot here maybe near the fishing spot.thks again,regards john

    Mate dont know if you have a beach rod , but if surfs not too big and you find a gutter down there , chance of some decent tailor

    Hi John,
    There are great camp grounds on the river at both Hastings Point and Pottsville. As for fishing, we haven't had much luck locally, only small stuff. A friend does ok under the Black Rocks bridge using bait, you've got good chance of a flattie there. If your into rock fishing Aussiefool fishes Hasting a couple of times week and may give you a heads up. As Chliders said above the beach fishing can be pretty good to.

    Mate as "themissus" said above I can point you right for rock fishing but as I do not eat flathead I do not target them and there fore can not help, but if you wnt to hit the rock call me.

    Moobal Creek has some good size flathead at times and is a good place to learn how to use plastics.
    Try around the mouth in amongst the coffee rock and past the bridge up towards black rock can hold good fish as well.

    We went down there at Easter for the morning (might be the same creek that Leeroy1 is talking about).. Fished down towards the mouth,, they wouldn't touch plastic's but i caught 2 good Bream 29cm & 1 flathead 42cm on prawns Lots of little Bream ,, Good fun on light gear..All released

    Very nice posts girls and guys,

    I too am thinking of going down that way at the end of April for a day or two and see if I can get a fish or two from the beach, rocks and try for flattie.

    The are some mighty bream in the surf just north of the creek mouth.
