Normally the creeks are OK, but in wet weather there can be at least 4 challenging crossings.
Those creeks are not passable at the moment and I will be there end of next week so wondering if anyone knows how long it generally takes for water to recede there assuming there is no more heavy rains???????????
Ive heard it can vairy by 2 metres in a day. But your going at the right time. May is usually the best as the water has gone and everything is still wet and green. I HATE BULLDUST. But sorry cant help you with current conditions.
According to Cooktown shire council..........from Bloomfield to Wujal-wujal is closed and woodabba creek is 1 metre high. The road to Ayton and Rossville has had mudslides lsst week and from Rossville to Cooktown is buggered.
king kev when i went a couple of year back was very wet at the time and the bloomfiekld track creeks did go down quickly as are next to the coast but are somewhat tide dependent in the lower waters to allow discharge of flood waters so unlikely to delay you a lot unless it keeps raining heavily - its the creeks and rivers further up the cape thats present the real big problem if thats where you are headed
