Haughton live bait

Spent the day on the Haughton.

What a great day, but I couldn't find any live bait except for a couple of small prawns.

The water was suprisingly fresh, squid and pilchards barely raised a scale.

Can anyone give me some info on finding live bait, a couple of fishos fishing live mullet pulled a Barra maybe 70+cm.

The bait in the Haughton can be difficult at times to find especially when there is a lot of fresh. Check the small gutters running off into the creek for prawn. Tide running out is better I find. Cruise the edge of the sand bars for Mullet and whiting and if still no luck slip up some of the small feeder creeks into the backwater but as usual watch out for snags as they luv to jump out and wreck your net...Hope this helps.
