Talking Stumbled on some Prawns- Redcliffe

We were heading south between Scarborough and Scotts pt, on thursday 8th and drove right through the middle of a huge school of prawns. It really was a sight to see, i am estimating that the school was about 30m in diameter and we were in 7.5m of water so I think they would have been thick right down to the bottom as well. Spent the next 45min chasing them and getting a throw in before they moved and chasing, throwing, chasing etc etc They can really get along at quite a pace. I ended up ripping my net on a rock so if any of you go out to look around be carefull. Funny eh, go out looking for snapper and end up with a heap of prawns.

Congratulations , good to see someone getting a few. Was there any other boats around at the time you came across them.

Would you know if the tide was incoming or outgoing at that time?

I bet the adrenalin was pumping hey,

    Cheers

bondy- couple boats south of me and a buttload to the north it was near the green flasher off margate where we came across em, outgoing tide so I presume they were headed north.

robersl- fisheries bloke at scarborough when we were leaving also tells me the flathead are plentifull there as well. They must eat prawns eh!

Very unselfish of you to report where you got your catch. I've sent you a pm of where the guys were getting prawns today. Hope you have time to get out and get a bucket tomorrow. Cheers
( I heard the best throws were 5kilo and prawns were showering for 100 metres.0

Flash- I didn't fish after we did the prawning, kinda stoked couldn't wait to get home.

Pero- dont know if the fisheries were there yesterday mate he is an old bloke doing a survey for em, nice chap, interesed in catch size etc. Think he goes down to Pelican park ramp as well. Thanks for the PM bud.
