Land Based Fishing - Where to Go?
Hey all and welcome to the weekend!
Cricket season is finally over and work is a touch quiet so I'm taking the opportunity to finally get out fishing for a full day tomorrow (leave pass from the boss granted!).
We're planning to find a spot, set up camp chairs, eskies etc for the day and sit n fish from early morn till the sun goes down.
Only question is - where to go? I have no boat, no 4x4 any more so I'm looking for a land based fishing spot. Would love to catch anything really, especially if it's edible!
Any input or ideas would be greatly appreciate - I'm based in logan but I have the whole day so I'm open to anywhere from the border up to the sunny coast!

Re: Land Based Fishing - Where to Go?
The problem you will face is that the places you can sit comfortably with chair and esky may not produce the fishing you are after as the harder to reach, muddier and dirtier the landbased spot the less people fish it.
I would do some searches on this forum for landbased success in fishing reports however I would suggest you grab your refidex look for bodies of water and give them a try. A couple of suggestions
Raby Bay if you don't want to travel too far, around the canal entrances, or canal dead ends for bream, moses perch, trevally etc.
Try some of the canals and lakes on the Gold Coast such as Lake Intrepid, Pine Lake.
Have a look for a few suggestions here also:
http://www.sunfishqld.com.au/ and look for the where to go fishing link.

Let us know how you go.
Cheers
Chris
P.S. Which cricket club do you play for?

Re: Land Based Fishing - Where to Go?
Just finished my last season of cricket - have retired due to family commitments and injury. But I was playing for Loganholme Cobras.
Will have a look at those spots and see how we go. To be honest, I just want to catch a fish anywhere lol. it's been a while.

Thanks mate! Same to you!
A Mate of mine has suggested we try for some tailor off the seaway on the incoming tide. So we're about to rig up our surf rods, gang up a pilly or 3 and head down there.

Re: Land Based Fishing - Where to Go?
I am off the the cricket club presentation night tonight. Won the premiership so I am thinking might be time to hang up the whites although the winter season (Warehouse) is only a few weeks away!
Good luck with the fishing.
Cheers

Re: Land Based Fishing - Where to Go?
Hi Bucket,
I used to go to a bridge on the goldy. I think its 19th Ave at Currumbin. There is a footpath underneath that you could set up on and we used to get a fair variety of fish, bream, whiting the odd flatty and occasionaly something we just couldnt stop. Throw a pot in as well, a few good muddies came from there.
