    Parsun Outboard Motors.

    Parsun Outboard Motors,

Has anyone got any comments re: the above Motors?

They are Chinese made as far as I can determine and look ok. on paper.

They have been on sale here for some time and the present owners may have had time now to determine their worth.

Be pleased to hear any comments goods or bad.

    Thanks in advance.

Do a search, there was a thread on here about 6 months ago. I know they have sold quite a lot of them, i work for a transport company and we send a few every fortnight.

Had one in a few months back 4hp..compression was down to 40psi.. the owner took it home to ponder his warranty options.

    wrxhoon,

So it's made in China? What it isn't now. I wouldn't just knock something because it's made in China.

I recently bought a Makita drop saw. Got it home and then noticed on the packing it also was made in China. Does that make it a cheap poor quality saw? I don't think so.

So is that keyboard you typed on and the monitor you are looking at but you bought them anyway. Nothing wrong with a lot of Chinese stuff today.

Everything from Honda motorbikes to radio communications equipment to Scania and BCI buses are being made in China these days and the quality doesn't seem to have suffered.

It's not about the country, it's about how the company manages quality in the plant and how they manage spare parts and warranty support afterwards.

I'd buy a Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki etc if it was made in china because I'd be confident they'd monitor their quality and if something did happen they'd fix it.T

he thing that would worry me about Parson outboards isn't that they are made in china, it's that they are a new brand with a small dealer support network.

They will probably never be able to establish a comprehensive dealer network whilst the importer is selling direct to the public,no dealer will invest huge amounts of money on inventory when the supplier will deal direct and cut them out of the loop.

surely the importer has a wholesale and retail price structure or an area/region that they won't sell out of

Never met a re-seller/dealer yet prepared to invest heavily in stock that can be purchased directly regardless of price.Would you put thousands of dollars worth of stock on your floor only to see them sold directly by your own supplier to the same people your trying to sell into.

Steeler I agree . it just astounds me that the importer would do that . and if he does then I think he will find it hard to get dealers

Exactly, check out eBay delivered anywhere in Aust ( except WA ).

I would be encouraging Haji if coin is an issue to save for a little longer and buy a more established brand if not for the fact that most of the majors have a more established dealer network.

Mate if the monitor stuffed up , I'm not going to be stranded 20 miles out..

You go ahead and buy Chinese stuff , I'll stick with Jap and US built outboards, each to their own.. Same with Chinese built cars , I'm an ex-motor mechanic, their cars and bikes look like a 12 year old put them together.

    MyEscape,
If you want to buy a Chinese saw , go eahead and buy one but if it broke down or didn't last as long as a Jap built one with the nomey you saved you will buy another one or 2. To my knowledge these outboads are only 10% cheaper than Jap or USA built motors..Hardly worth it!!
