Had been a while not wanting to risk been out while the wife was ready to pop. Now that all is well mum and new little bub at home (3rd girl just wasn't meant to be) was time to wet a line.

So with my brother on some leave and almost time for the dreaded day of giving the owner back his boat returning from over seas we planned a late night on the river and finally get to mud for a look. On the water at 3pm straight to get bait it was every where first throw saw about 10 great size mullets. Headed straight out the mouth for a look only been in a 4.2m open had to be sure about the weather. Sure we were and crossed started by drifting some shellow areas for a couple of bites but nothing, so moved and drifted a bit more played with some undersize squire on plastics before the sunset and we decided to settle next to one of the markers to soak some liveys. no weight just a double hooked mullet free to it's thing I went to check him after aboout 15mins and as soon as I'd taken up the slack and took tension the reel screams what the nice little fight despite the heavey gear I was using and great work on the net from the deckie scored a PB cod at 53cm. Was over the moon and hiped for a good night came back down to earth pretty quick. About 830pm we decided to head back to the mouth and try for some threadfin and snapper ended up just playing with more undersize squire and not a touch on the liveys despite heaps of moves trying along the port, reefy area in the middle and docks to the north side. On that note given the current tides etc any reason a live bait could be in the water for what ended up been 5hrs for no touch, just in case there's something I can do differently.

Anyway heres to been in it to win it.
