Hi Setchy
Looks like juvenile grunter or rubberlips. A bit more info about where you caught them would help. You can also send me higher resolution photos and I would have a better chance of idying them.
Len
caught them in central queensland, at turkey beach. In the bay in about 10 to 15 metres of water. They were schooling as well.
definitely aren't grunter, markings on the juvvy's don't differ much from adult fish, my best guess is some type of blubberlip
we catch some of these in the brissy river,i think they are juvenile javelin or grunter bream.
support your local commercial fisher, its never too late!!
I can definitely ID them as fish.
Cows are way bigger.
not javlin (grunter) blackall (blubber lip) maybe
goanna
Blotched grunter - Pomadasys maculatus
The sweetlips/blubberlips are in the same family (Haemulidae) as the grunters/javelins and have many similar features.
I am inclined to agree with NorthC but colours can fade and markings vary from fish to fish. Some more photos which look very similar from fishbase
