Coopers Creek Bait etc.
Hi all
Been thinking about a trip out to the Coopers/Windorah or the Barcoo this winter, I'm sure some of you will have been out that way.
My Dad has done trips out there as well and always got good yellas, mostly using crayfish they took with them and shrimps from the location.
Anyone ever done well out there with alternative baits to supplement these already mentioned? Be good to be well prepared as its along way to travel and getting enough crays can be time consuming.
Thanks
Flatzie

Hi Flatzie,
what about some nice thick garden worms, i always take some to the bush and work well but never fished where you are going, but same fish, yellows dont mind a worm or two, but agree good crays are the best.
Cheers

Hi! Flatzie,
Take your shrimp nets along and they are good bait.
Lagoons and creeks for shrimp.
Also crays and worms.
I am supposed to be heading out that way on Monday but medical requirements may delay me a bit.
The van and cruiser are already packed ready to go .
I have found out in recent years that there are 4 slightly different species of yellowbelly in our fresh water streams.
Murray Darling, Barcoo Coopers Creek, Dawson River and Isaccs river.
All apparently different in some way.
I first noticed the difference 20 years ago in the Dawson. Later on in the Barcoo.
The Barcoo variety are longer and rounder than the Murray Darling type.
Almost like a cod.
Enjoy your trip should be good about now.
Have Fun Haji-Baba.
