Re: Ya got to be kidding!!
I didn't know you could even capsize a boat by just driving off ? I can see how the rope could get caught in the prop when you get going,
but sometimes my anchor has been well and truly stuck with my tinny and boat in the av, and have to use the power of the engine to free it.
I have zip ties on the anchor now that break away and help pull the anchor out if it's wedged well, it's really hard to forget your anchor is out though. cheers

Re: Ya got to be kidding!!
i had a mate do that, it was his new boat, we where both anchored in 20m within throwing distance. His boat being still very low hours, found it hard to stay in one spot for very long so he decided to go for a blat with the excuse of dropping a line somewhere else, started up and just took off at full throttle!! Waving and yelling didn't work he was gone!
Luckily compared to the bloke above this bloke simply ended up with the anchor skiing and jumping 30m behind at 30kn.
Was a pretty trick time saver LOL!

i think a lot of people need refresher courses on how to handle boats and safety to, i was shocked to find out that more than 50% of boats don't carry a basic first aid kit.

I suppose it depends if the anchor is running over the boats hull or around it. I have always been told that running the anchor rope out over the back of the hull is a big no no.
I have on very rare occasions had to use the boat to free up a stuck anchor and I can tell you I did it very carefully.
gr hilly: As for a first aid kit. I learned the hard way when I stabbed myself in the foot with a rusty filleting knife. I had to use dirty bait rags rinsed in the bay to bandage the wound. Unbelievable but it didn't got septic.
