Advice on guide types / styles

Ok all, i,ve got the butt's glued up on my 2 calstar blanks, Alps hardware (cobalt blue tri seats), usa hypalon grips that i did a fair bit of shaping on, all looks the good so far, very flash!!

I'm now wondering if i have made the right selection on guide type. I had the intention of running Fuji mnsg's (20's down to 10's) but upon checking them out i'm wondering if they may be a bit light duty? These rods will both be running 50 pound praid and will get their fair share of punishment, bumps and bends over time, they will probably be my used pieces of equipment and i want them to last a long time. At the same time i want to maximise the performance in the blanks.

Any ideas on what guide brand/specific type i should be going with? Will the mnsg's do the job?

    Cheer's Scott

Yep, your MNSG guides will do the job “BUT” I would have gone the HNSG instead. The HNSG guides are a much sturdier frame and can handle a hell of a lot of punishment. I have had a few of the MNSG frames bend on me over the years, mainly in the larger size from 20 and up. The only way to bend a HNSG guide frame would be to drive over it with a tank.

Stu, thanks, yep - i saw the hnsg's on the fuji page last night, i've actually got them on pfluger jig rod i'v got and they do look indistructible, I might change my mnsg's for them given i would end up with seriously heavy duty (but light) guide rings and frames that way.

    Thank's, Scott
