Crabbing the Tweed
Hi guys,
I'm going down the Tweed in a few weeks for a bit of relaxation and I'm thinking about taking a few pots.
Can anyone tell me if its worth soaking them in the Tweed at all?
Thanks

Tweed always has a few crabs in it, and of course if you are staying down there you can keep the jennies too! I don't believe it gets the crabbing pressure of seq either.
Make sure you check the regs on pots and the number allowed as they are different to qld rules:

Re: Crabbing the Tweed
Am I reading this right?
Not more than 1 trap to be used (or in possession) by any person at any one time.
This means if 2 people are in the boat I can only use 2 pots?

I read it that way aswell. And then it nothes that pots must not be used in ocean or inland waters (Where are you supposed to put them then?). However, i also read it that you can use 5 dillies each. What i didnt read on that link was what combination can be used. Ie 5 dillies 1 pot per person. might be best off calling NSW DPI and asking someone. Also i noticed a rec fishing licence fee.

Re: Crabbing the Tweed
I went through this too, one pot per person, we had four out cause we had our kids with us but they have to be with you when you drop off and pick up.
because of the share farmers we didn't have to pick them up at the end , nowhere is exempt to these - - - t's,
but we did find areas that had some muddies, we left ours out overnight and found that if we had more bait for them to keep munching on, we could'av had more, " I think some escaped" all the bait was eaten. good luck.

5 dillies & 1 pot per person in nsw & as above you can keep jennies as long as they are not in berry.

Shane,
We're struggling for crabs up our way at the moment (murwillumbah). It's still pretty fresh. You're better off in the lower reaches for good crabs at the moment.
Yep - 1 pot only per person. You can keep females and the size is smaller than Queensland and you measure then front to back not across as in Queensland.
