Boreen Point / Cootharaba

Could someone please give me an indication of what fishing is like in this area and where to try. i realise its quite shallow and that fishing upper Noosa River is worth a go. Is it any good for flatties over weed or shallow across the whole lake?

Any general info would be helpful. Be there at Easter

Wish I could be of help. We stayed up there at a house at Boreen point one weekend a couple of years ago. Hire a boat and went every where up to and a little past Harry's hut (is that what it's called?). Had some fun with some cat fish, but it was a VERY slow day. On our way back to the boat hire, we 'found' a spot (someone else was fishing nearby), and had a shot there for a short while and caught heaps of flathead. But I'd have no hope of telling you where it is/was. Probably about 5-10min north of the boat hire place?
Anyway, there are fish about there, but from our one day of fishing, they seemed very localised.
I'm sure there's plenty of people on here that can help you out!

Having a quick look on Google Earth, the place we found with the flatties, could have been near the old mill wharf?

i live in boreen point, plenty of discoloured water, local pro fishers have been beam trawling the lake for bait prawns for the last month or so & had plenty of rain recently, have been plenty of crabs about & catfish. both top & bottom channels in the lake through the markers are very shallow they are dredging the top channel at the moment.upstream from the lake i don't think much is happening but that could change anytime. fish the snags between lake cootharaba & lake cooroibah for jacks with livies or drift the sandbanks in lake cooroibah for flatties on the incoming tide if that's what you are chasing. hope this helps

Given the reports I have heard about mutated fish turning up in this area due to over zealous spraying of nearby crops with widely banned pesticides, I would question the table quality of any catch until the matter has been investigated.

i've never caught a 2 headed fish in the noosa river system or any other body of water. both rec & pro fishos take & eat/sell/buy/onsell fish from this system daily not many 2 headed people geting around, dunno about the export market. no doubt the system is polluted, pristine water is like rocking horse shit, if it was pristine humans would have never been near it. i'll keep fishing this system & eating the fish. if it kills me so be it, life's terminal for every organism.
