    Coleman Re-Chargeable Lanterns

Ive got one of those retro Coleman re-chargeable fluro lanterns, and the last couple of trips it just turns itself off after about 15 mnutes, and wont come on again.
The battery is charged, any one else had this?
Also, how are the re-chargeable LED lanterns? Im assuming low power draw, are there any brands I should look out for. They need to last for 3/4 nights of camping.

My Coleman played up last year for a while then came good again. I have an el cheapo LED as well and the light is OK but the outside metal components are rusting badly

If it's had a bit of use, and or it has sat unused and uncharged for any significant length of time...OR...It's just getting a bit old.....you might be due for a battery replacement.

        Shouldn't be hard.

If it is the retro or somilar it takes a common sealed lead acid battery.

If you still have the manual it should detail how to replace the battery.

If not, I'm sure with a bit of observation and common sense you should be able to get the old one out.

Then it is s simple case of replacing same with same.

places like jaycar or altronics will have a selection if these batteries.

you are looking for a battery the same size and voltage...the battery packages are more or less standardised....the AH capacity may vary a little.

The important thing is size shape and voltage.

        cheers
Its the details, those little details, that make the difference.

I had a rechargable Coleman fluro which worked great for a few camping trips but after 12 months the battery died and wouldn't hold charge enough to last more than 10 mins. I went into Battery World and bought a new battery to fit it but the batteries aren't cheap and I considered purchasing a new lanturn because knowing my luck the fluro tube would go next. But, being good to the planet I went for the new battery and it has worked fine again eve since. I've bought a second lanturn now too, a LED recharchable from BCF which is no where near as bright.
