    Pollycraft 4.80 brumby feedback

    Hi All,
I am interested in a polly 4.8 front runner, had a 4.55 few years ago but was too small. Has anyone been in one, how would it compare to say a Quinny 4.90 topender of freedom sport?

Hey Mate, head on over to polyboatowners.com for a full run down of what people think of the 4.8 ... I headed out in a 4.8 Cuddy with one of the guys from Poly ... was a pretty wet boat mate .. I've got a 4.5CC, had a 4.1 Open and would skip the 4.8m and head straight for the 5.3m ... love my Poly's but not impressed with the 4.8, quite heavy and restricted to a 75hp.

    Ta
    Matt

If you are beach launching then I would say the poly is too heavy. Very hard to get back on the trailer as they don't have rollers. Tend to get a bit wet as they take a few HP to get on the plane. Need probably ten more HP than say a tinnie just because of the weight.

Look at the hull shape and design. They are all pretty much the same from the 4.1 upto the 6.0, the next size up is a magnified version of the smaller one!!

Did you ever get the chance to sit up the back of your 4.55 and watch the flex in the hull? Well that will get worse in the larger boats.

I am a big fan of the polycraft, hence the reason I own one. But dont expect anything special from the larger versions, except for more deck space. I would probably trade my 4.55 for the 4.8 for the extra space if I needed it. Any larger and I would go glass.
