Well I am going to try for something a bit closer to immaculate LOL

I was just googling dump pipes and came across a couple for $600+ that would fit....what! No chance!! and way to shiny for me, solidly planing on rednecking this even further now.
BTW is this supposed to be the point when the fun starts

    cheers fnq

ps Did I mention how I have set up my rural, non river crossing, turbo feeding, intercooler?
    What could go wrong.......................

Yeah mate, you can buy adaptor flanges... Depending on what turbo to what intake and dump pipe though. Some look like this
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/T3-T4-Adaptor...-/170404736583
    And others like this
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/T3-to-T4-Adap...18131001r13190

It all sounds high tech but its not. Let me try and find you a pic of 1 that has been high flowed.

    Re: Anyone here know turbos?

Found some. 1 is high flowed and 1 is not. Thats the difference between fast spool and extra HP. Basically when boost is achieved then it doesnt make a huge difference when its been high flowed(it does, but not too much) it also allows the heat to escape quicker. But it does how ever allow the vacuum to escape alot easier before boost, (just like a n/a engine) as air likes to travel along things and loves smooth corners. Which is why it takes less rpm to spool up and acheive boost.

Toyota Boxes are different in that the turbo boxes have larger input shaft, bigger bearings and the gear sets are a fine tooth setup so that the load is spread over a much larger area since there are more teeth meshed at the one time compared to a standard box

The N/A Toyota Cruiser Boxes are designated as R151 and the turbo boxes are H150

Since the torque output of the turbo engines is significantly higher than N/A engines there is a need to upgrade the gearbox to cope with the extra torque#

No matter what gearbox you are running
driving about at around at low revs with the engine/gearbox loaded up will reduce the life of the bearings in the gearbox, The gearbox will sound unhappy doing it, especially in the higher gears

I see, they look too nice to put on a car, will my wife want to hang it on the wall if she finds out what ones worth?

Ben how much if you know and from where?.

I am soon to purchase a highmount manifold, there seems to be a few floating around for sale one even on ebay ATM, from really good and too expensive to the everyday fare of turbo glide and MTQ (I think).

Ben do you think I will need an adaptor no matter what for one of these manifolds... reason because this turbo is T25 and all the manifolds will be T28??

    cheers fnq

    Re: Anyone here know turbos?

T3 to T25/T28 only 14mm thick and fully flowed and 3D CNC'd one single plate. You can also flip it to T25/T28-T3.

Also have CT26-T25/T28 and CT26-T3 all in 14mm

    CT26-T25/T28

Ill have to message the guy again to find the price. I think it was about $200ish off memory.

Your going to have to get a new 3" mandrel bent exhaust after you turbo it. Which means you will need a dump pipe made up and will get the correct flange welded to it (to suit your exhaust/dump pipe to turbo).

So you only really have to worry about the engine/exhaust manifold suiting the turbo. You could get lucky and jag the right 1. But, if you dont. Dont stress, just get 1 of these adaptors. The good thing already is that you have a gq diesel 4.2 patrol. The blocks are all the same which means there are heaps of manifolds out there. Same with cruisers. Which is why its good to get a common 4x4.

Good find Ben i didn't come across those Ebay ones when i searched, will save them.

$200! Nah thanks anyway Ben but he can keep it for the meantime anyway, might spend a couple of noisy hours fabing one myself when I have the manifolds flange to draw a comparison from. The champer (sp) can really only have but one angle if I already have both sides to take a measure from.

Still might grab one though, just gotta see what other options come up as I get further in.

With luck I might have the option of either flange on the manifold I purchase.

Thi turboglide setup looks nice, the dump pipe and inlet piece I might add to the list.

Noworries mate. Id pay it forsure . Simple bolt on then.
The pics look good. The manifold and dump pipe have been hpc coated aswell.

Thats a whole different story though. Guys get their engines (Piston tops, heads, valves, manifolds and turbo's) hpc coated as it contains the heat and forces it through the turbo and out the exhaust. Instead of it escaping into your engine bay through the engine and turbo. But, you have to get your head ballanced and tollerances checked. Plus port out your exhaust ports bigger to allow the heat to escape quicker. I do believe it makes a huge difference as the spent gas's (heat) is what drives your turbo and makes it spin.

Like everything, you can go a bit mad on all the small things that add up to performance.

It shouldnt be hard to set it up mate. Just run your boost gauge from your pump and not your turbo. So you get a direct and correct boost reading. And you MUST get an egt gauge (pre turbo). Around 440 for save working temps.

yeah it's all the little bits an pieces that adds up not to mention sourcing them, still waiting to get a quote on those parts until the person get back from interstate hope it's reasonable.

20 years ago I went silly building a turbocharged 2.0L fe mazda engine did it all from start to finish in the garage at the time much the same as this i suppose, T04, jaguar carbs, 18lb boost, water injection, 3 inch exhaust, it was a real fast car when it was all done it needed those flipper paddles as I simply couldn't change gears fast enough for it, cost me many thousands back then, was fun but I think a waste of money when looking back now.

Just read some feedback on that manifold selling on ebay, seems it's quite crummy inside with cut of ends protruding and rubbish welding....another trap for the unwary, thankfully someone had balls enough the give some honest feedback as it was a contender at that price.

Shouldn't be a big issue with the Patrol gearbox at anywhere much under 200kw on the tar, they are well over built already, same years Toyota box comparison when all the parts are laid out on the ground next each other, the standard Toyota parts look like they are 1.5L hyundi bit's and pieces.

The MQs did have a gearbox more comparable to a Toyota one in their long wheel base from memory, slick gear changer and all but not up to much more than that.

Yeah that"s the one just subtract 1000bhp from either one of those and I would loose but it would be lots closer!
