Re: Mud Island Tuesday 9 March 2010

When I get episodes of tiredness that have no obvious explanation, I usually attribute it to dehydration.
When it happens I make myself drink 2 litres of water as a minimum to rehydrate. I fill a 2 litre juice bottle and make sure i get at least that much into me as quickly as i can. Try it you will be surprised how quickly you energy returns.

    thanks for a good read

    Well, whaddya know!

The forecast for this morning looked almost as good as it was for yesterday morning so I have kept the boat hooked up to the car in my driveway, fully intending to go to Mud Island again this morning. But I was still feeling quite exhausted last night and so I very reluctantly decided not to go this morning.

High tide is right now, as I write, and when I look at the conditions in the open Bay, what do I see?....

The winds are nudging 15 knots out there!

Not dangerous but getting to be a bit uncomfortable in a small aluminium boat, especially if you are punching into it getting there.

Yup! Yesterday was the day to be there. Those of us who were out on the Bay yesterday can be as happy as a pig in mud that we made the best of a window of opportunity in the weather, 'cos it ain't looking so good over the next week...

    LOL @ Charlie!

Great read, many thanks for that. But I must disagree. I can't stand going out alone - then I have no one to swear at.

    Cheers,

Old age Bruce..tiredness..hehe..or is that what retirement brings..thank god I have no intentions of ever retiring.

be like me..maximum 4 hours sleep a night (unless intoxicated..maybe 6 then)..just get stuck into what you want to do and enjoy.

I found the trevally to be a little bland and much less tasty to me than the tailor but but my wife preferred it to the tailor.

So it seems that whether you like trevally depends on your own personal taste.

Some people will recommend flavouring it with spices or garlic or something but I recall reading something once in a newspaper that suggested that the food quality in Australia is so good that it is a shame to add extraneous flavours and I must admit to being of that mindset myself. However, trevally may be something that needs a bit of something extra to dress it up a bit.

Trevally is not a bad tasting fish at all but just a little bland for my taste.

    The tailor were delicious though!

I never did either, until I took a year or so off from work on long service leave and discovered that there is a whole different world away from the corporate politics that I used to get so immersed in.

A well funded retirement simply means that you have the freedom to do absolutely anything you like at any time you like but I do understand that for lots of people, a completely free, unstructured way of life is challenging.

I still work though. Over the past couple of years, I have put together a home workshop full of tools that would outshine any of the places where I used to toil as a techo when I was a young fella. I just produce stuff now that has no commercial value but gives me lots of enjoyment doing. eg, this box that I made at Christmas for my wife to store some old family photos in ...

Some days, I am absolutely flat out building stuff. Other days, I am flat out on the couch after spending the night fishing, or watching the Tour-de-France in its entirety each year or whatever.

As lots of retirees will say, I would not have enough time in my life for a job now. Others who struggle with retirement, cark it early.

Agree... You really have to have your own boat to think about the stuffing around you do and they seem to take it for granted. Like you get back home and they are like ohh well, thanks for the fish (I supply the lot) and they jump in their car..... Umm the boat aint going to clean itself.... I have about 1 mate I would take continually cause he knows what it takes and appreciates, I haven't paid for my own beer in quite some time. Some do recognise.... and appreciate. :-)
