Thread: Freshwater Speedsters

    Freshwater Speedsters

Was just visiting Sydney out in the Hawkesbury area with some keen fisho mates, I had introduced one of them to fly fishing when living in UK some years back.
These boys now target trout over the range etc, but also got smart and started tying their own bread imitation flies to catch big bully mullet on fly in the fresh reaches of the Hawkesbury near Richmond.
Had a ball late Saturday, nailed 6 of them on a 4lb tippet and man do those things go like a steam train, as good a sportsfish you willl ever find pound for pound!

At the right time of year, the banks between Donnybrooke and Mission hold a few good mullet. Never had much luck in the Pine but the forshore at Brighton and Sandgate had heaps too.

    Nice work there mate.

Richmond was basically where I grew up.

Is that area around yarramundi or the land locked lakes between richaond and north richmond way as it looks very familar (its been some time since i was there last)?

    Cheers

Just walked downstream and under the bridge at Yarramundi.
Just before Hawkesbury join, so its actually prob the Nepean. They get a lot at Windsor just at the sort of beach area near the bridge as well.
