Last time we were there there was a camping area on the dam side of the wall. There is access to water from campsites didnt need permit or anything but that could have changed.there were not a lot of sites but should be ok except for school hols.
Good luck fishing can be good but havn't heard since rain..

Bundybird - we are looking at going up there for the first time next month after the school holidays, will post when I find out first hand.
But here are some sites I found
No rangers or fees payable (that we found). There is camping available on the foreshore on the dam wall side. Wouldnt like to be there at easter or school holiday times....not many flat spots.
Pit toilets/enviro toilets are up above top water mark and 1 male/1 female shower up the top on the way in.
Garbage collection points at the toilets.
No phone reception on the dam at all.
We took our own shrimps, but put traps in and managed a dozen or so overnight.
LOOOOOOTS of dust!
Take your own everything with (drinking water etc) as the dam has high algae levels.
We found Ashford (15-20klm) great to top up ice/drinking water etc, plus mobile service to check in on work.....(grrr)
Showers were really clean & nice & hot! The toilets even had REAL dunny paper in them...lol
