Gee isn't Labor governments grand! Wonder what the new incoming government is saying about this?
I do like the anybody can fish with a licence holder part, a little bit of base character leaked in there somehow....unusual in Australia today, someone who stands to gain financially and professionally must not have been looking at the time.
cheers fnq
hate to take the family ( missus plus 4 kids 17yo, 16 yo 14yo and a 11yo) out a couple of times a year for a couple of lobsters a few abbs and a few kg of fish do the maths
sort of hurts on a basic one wage family and its fully wrong IMO

In Western Australia the Colin Barnett's Liberal Party has been in power since September 2008. Since then they have reduced bag limits, brought in new and increased licence fees, increased the fishing bans, and increased no-take zones. Below is their Rec Fishing Policy from before the 2008 WA State Election, it dosn't seem to match what they did once they got into power.
WA Liberals Recreational Fishing
The seasonal recreational fishing bans introduced by Labor on 24 June 2008 are extremely restrictive. There is no question that it is important for the environment and for the commercial and recreational fishing industries that Western Australia’s fish stocks are well managed into the future. The problem with Labor’s recreational fishing ban, however, is that it was implemented without regard to the lifestyle of WA’s boaters and anglers and without considering the damaging economic impact it will have on the associated boating, tackle and accommodation industries. A Liberal Government will immediately establish an expert recreational fishing panel to review the Labor Government’s ban and evaluate the environmental, social and economic impact of the restrictions, with a view to relaxing the bans. A Liberal Government will be committed to ensuring there is an appropriate balance between the need to manage fish stocks and the ability of Western Australians to enjoy recreational fishing.
Mike, (below) is absolutely correct. The current WA situation appears to be a direct result of a backflip by their Liberal Government. They promised the World to the Rec Angler, then bent him over and didn't even use any lube.
None of the bastards can be trusted - I would assume that the people over there the Libs were talking to were all smiles and "gee thanks", and waaaaay too trusting.
I talk to my local MP (Mark Robinson) often on this issue, and every single time we speak I tell him that I like his talk, but if we get screwed after we help them get in, they will be a one term Government. I have stated the same to several other Lib and Nat State MP's I've had discussions with.
I believe that in QLD the power of the Rec Angler is being recognised. We are worth keeping happy. I believe that may not be the case in WA, but I'm an awfully long way away from there...
Cheers,
Tim
Carbon Really Ain't Pollution.
That is a $$#$#$$$ joke.
In the words of an uninhibited sportsman.. " you can't be serious ? "
BTW, Tim, if you do a ' backflip " you end up in the same position from whence you started !!!.............. apparently.
A 'U' turn, a ' 180 ' or an ' about face '.............. whatever you call it, it sux !!

and of course all these closures an restrictions and fees adds to the argument of our population explosion to 35 million and what the governments are doing to prepare for it....Doesnt it?????
WA, Massive state...Nearly a third of the entire land mass of Australia...Thousands of miles of untouched coastline. BUT only 10% of the population...So they need all these bans because???????
Bollocks......Revenue raising by imoral, lying thieving pollies...Libs.Labor. Nats. Greens...All lying F***s...Always have been.
I am a WOZZIE (West Aussie) and this wouldnt have happened if I were still there.
Poor buggers....Hope they stand and fight.
I have been told that Recfish are very strong over there....So what hapened??? Len??? Can you shed some light on this one mate?
I CAME INTO THIS WORLD KICKING, SCREAMING AND COVERED IN SOMEONE ELSES BLOOD. I HAVE NO PROBLEM GOING OUT THE SAME WAY.
NEWBY T.G.
I am lucky on the fishing licence in NSW as I am on a pension and don't have to pay for one but in Western Aus it is $115 a year to do a quiet bit of relaxing fishing just for me alone never mind my missus and two daughters
yes I used a mates family in the example in above post
the bit where a non licence holder can fish on the boat as long as the bag limit is not exceeded is a joke when you look at the bag limits
and whats the go with tags with names on them for all fish stored
cheers Murf
Thanks for that, my mistake, bugger thats no good I sure I heard the government over there was going to get thrown at the next election I thought it was labor ATM might be confusing it it with elsewhere...no chance to get this appropriately back peddled now?
cheers fnq
LOL, not fair. I actually think Mark is good value. He's a Marine Biologist, and understands the issues. I actually think he's one of the few who's quite trustworthy (as trustworthy as a Pollie can be, handsome is as handsome does) - he's been fighting hard for us, and Mark, if you're reading, we appreciate it!!!
Cheers,
Tim
Carbon Really Ain't Pollution.
As long as he signs it blood tim, don't accept anything less.
He doesn't need to sign it Mike. If he doesn't come through, there will be blood!
