    +1 to fresh Trevally fillets.

If not bled your fillets will be blood tainted but you can trim out these bits if need be.

Lot of comment to say they don't eat well but i will take these over tailor or mackerel any day, but that's just me.

I was on the bay yesterday morning and will make a post on that later today.

    Mick.

Gee - after getting all of these comments about Trevally, I am looking forward to catching more and giving them a try.

The ones that I caught yesterday are now frozen hard and will become crab-pot bait.

Taste is a funny thing. Lots of fishos don't rate tailor much as a meal but I love them. They have to be eaten fresh but when I pick up a few tailor at Mud Island sometimes, I get really excited.

Part of that is the fun of catching them, of course. I usually get them on the bait-runner which has a floating pilly on it out the back of the boat and of course when they hit that the bait runner ratchet screams with excitement and I yell out. "You little bloody bewdy!"

Nice feed and good thought provoking story Bruce! I think we all know a 'Dave'...

Re the Mossies, try 'Bushmans' as a repellant - i know some people don't like using anything when fishing for various reasons, but it's never affected our trips other than keep the whizzing buggers away from us - very effective on the Midgies/Sandies as well...

TOL, can't agree with you more on that one mate!!

i also ventured out at the 'silly' hour of 3am and headed to curtin artificial reef!!
got 6 40cm+ squire in the first drift, went quiet after 5.30.

most of my mates fit the 'Dave' type, a couple are keen as for early starts but are hampered by a terribly dehabilitating disease called 'work'

my missus wasnt happy with being woken up so early in the morning when i ran into a door in the darkness, but all was forgiven at dinner time when fresh snapper was served!! yum.

          Dan..

I wonder if anybody has researched this subject? Would the breed make any difference, eg; would Friesian cows produce more effective mossie repellant than say Holsteins?

Probably not, but it might have something to do with what the cows have been eating such as what type of grass or whether they've been fed lucerne hay etc.

Fascinating subject really and one that could demand more thought. Should run it past one of these greenie academics.

PS: Just thought of something. I might ask Webby this very question at his fishing forum at the T & T show.

                  And it's not even a DDD !!!

I think that that would be an awesomely good question to ask.
