Has anyone kayaked up river from the Stanmore Bridge? Looking at heading the way either Friday or Saturday.

No but I often travel up to Mt Tamborine, where the road runs right along the upper Albert. I've wandered myself what it is like but not sure how far up you could get before running into a few narrow sections full of trees and obstructions that may mean a trip around them on terra firma. Nonetheless, it would be worth trying just to find out. I am sure it would be fun!
u might want to check the river heights before you go
Kayaked a section on Friday (4-5kms). Found a lot of crap in the trees washed down from earlier floods.......a ride-on-mower stuck in a tree... and a large gum tree had fallen across the river - tight squeeze to get under this one.
Nice day on the water.

No fish - but found a lure stuck in a tree. The object was to have a pleasant afternoon paddling around. Saw heaps of mullet towards the Stanmore weir.

Did you put in at the Stanmore weir? And how far did ya get?
You can get some good bass up this river if ya know where.
There is also another weir up further.
Pm me for more details if ya interested.

HEAD DOWN BUM UP!
Tim - We put in at the Stanmore weir and paddled a double kayak only about 4kms to the bridge in the photo. There simply was too much water coming down to paddle any further. A single, more manouverable, kayak could possibly be taken further upstream.
Cheers
Sorry to dig up and old thread, but I havent been on here for a while.
There is a no fishing zone 120mtrs downstream from the Luscombe weir. Not that it is ever acknowledged, the local meat fishos give the fish a pounding in that pool. There are a few guys I know (myself included) that get down there after the spawning season and fish it hard, and any fish we catch are released back above the weir.

Too long to repost info / pics etc. Go to http://www.sweetwaterfishing.com.au/...ic,1493.0.html for some pics & map.
The Albert is a great river to kayak. Exploring & discovering for yourself will be great fun.
