    Lowrance Mark-5X Mono Fishfinder

    Hi fellow fishers,

Wondering if anyone has any info on these units. I'm looking to replace my old Furuno LS4100 and had nearly clinched a deal for a Lowrance X135 when I came across these advertised on eBay.

Although it is a little less powerful than the X135 it has the same screen and pixel specs.

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Steve

I was wondering the same thing as you Steve as I was looking for an entry level fish finder for my new tinny.

To be honest having a larger and higher resolution mono screen appeals more to me than having colour and less resolution and the Lowrance Mark-5X ended up at the top of list. It didn't hurt that I'd had a good run out of a Lowrance 125 in my previous (larger) boat.

But I haven't been able to find much except for the bare specifications on the internet, no reviews, no user comments.

I'm guessing that since they are entry level they aren't exciting enough to be reviewed by fishing/boating magazines and web sites and because they are a fairly new model there isn't much user feedback out there.

I pick up the new boat at the end of next week so if you can wait another couple of weeks I'll have mine fitted and I'll have something practical to tell you about how they work hopefully.

I would expect these to be an Eagle equivalent in respect they would be slightly cheaper components and older technology with not as many features. Like the previous Eagle units v Lowrance.

FYI there is a Lowrance X135 on Breamaster for $200. Pm me if you need a number.

Had a look at them at the T&T show and put my order in for one.

I'll be fitting one in my boat as soon as stock are in.

          Some info here: http://www.whitworths.com.au/main_it...AbsolutePage=3

You can also go the Lawrance website for more info.

Bills Marine in Cairns has them for $245.00. Good looking unit.

Just realised that the original poster is talking about the Lowrance Mark-5X and I've ordered the Mark-5X pro.

The units are basically the same but the pro version does 83KHz as well as 200KHz so (when the unit arrives) my experiences won't bet 100% the same.

The boat is being picked up tommorow but the sounder isn't in sight yet...
