    Brisbane Queenfish Landbased OMG!

Fished with mate Dave landbased bayside brisbane with UNBELIVEABLE RESULTS. 2nd or 3rd cast for the day with a 3 inch berkley camo grub with half a tail missing all hell broke loose and i get a yell from my mate dave saying holy shit i'v hooked a farukenken monster... after a first blistering run i saw a flash and i yelled out queenie... 5 seconds latter the fish had run 30 yards and lept at least 2 meters outta the water. After seeing the size of the fish with the first jump we both braced for a rupture of the 10pd leader or a bricking on the surrounding rocks with the 8pd braid he was using which never ended up happening. The next 10 mins of the fish was played out about 70 yards from the rocks with more blistering runs making the most unveliveable Zinnnnnngg from the under pressure real which i recon was close to smoking at that stage.... after another 5 or so mins the call was made to walk to the beach 300 m away to land the wopper.... just as we got close to the beach a random fisher dude just arrived and offered his net...... the fish was landed..................... WAHHOOOOOOOOOOOO's and handshakes all round as our best landbased efforts is landed a queenie 89cm and just over 5 kg WHAT A FISH.... only fish landed for the day... OMG!@!@!@!@

    Cheers Dyl

There were a few sighted around the bottom of Bribie around Christmas.
That is just a fantastic catch. One to tell the grandkids about!

Nice Fish mate. They are pretty common from that spot on the flood tides at night. go down with some 70-100mm poppers and see how you go.

yeah we are still amazed at the quality of fish still found around brisbane...... after the initial hookup i saw about 4 or 5 more around the same time darting around in all the excitment..... might have to target them this week

Great catch landbased, no so great eating unfortunately.

I reckon I know where that is too, and it is not the Brisbane river. Actually, I gotta say you are game posting a photo of that fish with the background in full view. You might have more company than you want next time you head down there.
