    Pumicestone Jack

went up to the passage for the first time to do some crabbing and a bit of fishing today. Managed to be lucky enough to snare my pb mangrove jack at 48cm. Lots of fun, pulled hard and put up a good fight. see attached.

Got only one muddie unfortnutely so the jack saved the day.

water was still a bit dirty, plenty of sea grass in the water and other debris. Good day out.

Good looking fish and a saver for a single crab. Thse enviro nets are a payne on the larger species as you can,t swish it under them in time so i went back to my old open mesh. Good day out. Cheers

    Re: Pumicestone Jack

cheers guys. appreciate your comments. It may be a standard fish to some of the old salts but to me it was a great one so i was happy. Fish was caught on a live poddy mullet. He played with it for about a minute b4 he actually took it proper. Fish was released too btw. I actually lost another which i im pretty sure was a jack too.

yes i agree regarding the environet. They are good but they have a lot of drag and cant move it underwater very fast.

hey cooch - mate i decided to stay inside the main passage with the fresh and the crabs. I dont think i would have got access anyway in my boat (bay boat). I cant believe how shallow the main channels are. I was dragging bottom in a lot of places. Very nice area though. very impressed with it.

side note - saw a heap of people fishing and traps in the green zone.
